Exploring Various Careers, One Field at a Time

I DIDN’T HAVE A CHOICE

Creativity genes converged on me from both sides of my family at an early age and led me quite naturally to careers in advertising, entrepreneurship, as a novelist, and a life full of adventure.

My grandmothers introduced books, art, piano, and refinement, and my inventor grandfather showed me how to turn curiosity into things. (I made a robot with him when I was nine.) My banker grandfather personified dignity, and my mother demonstrated to me the power of words every day. Integrity and kindness I learned from my father.

ROMANCE/FANTASY AND THRILLERS

I am currently writing two series for LMBPN Worldwide Publishing. The 4-book romance/fantasy Magic at Myers Beach series, and the 4-book Appalachian Trail Mystery Thriller series. I’ve also edited two anthologies of ghost stories, Ghost Stories of Shepherdstown, Volume 1 & 2. Here's where to find them all.

In a curious twist, my first film as Producer is based on the first novel I wrote. Look for “The Seeding” in theaters in 2023!

THE PERFECT FIT

When my first stab at writing a script for a radio commercial was accepted, I was both hired and hooked! In short order I found myself in a full-blown life-long advertising career that would lead me beyond writing to encompass creative and art direction, to radio and television production and strategic media planning and buying.

I ended up a version of one of my heroes, Dick Van Dyke, and I even worked with my own Morrie Amsterdam and Rose Marie.

IMPROVING HEALTH OUTCOMES FOR OLDER ADULTS

I currently serve as Chairman and a co-founder of OneClick.chat, a video chat platform which provides engagement for older adults as another tool to deter the onset of dementia and improve health.

GLOBAL NOMAD

I blame my folks for my love of travel and exploration. I probably should have been born a couple centuries ago when there were still parts of the world to discover and explore, I’ve been lost in the Sahara and naked in the Amazon but right at home at the Ritz in Paris.

CHAMPIONING THE LEGACY OF DR. SCOTT BEARD

In addition to the enormous impact that Scott Beard made on the lives of his colleagues and students, my partner of 31 years left a legacy of published works. He recorded four piano solo CDs, including a collection of the works of Theodore Leschetisky and Frederik Chopin, which I have archived and made available through this site. He also published eight essential teaching books for the piano with his colleague Dr. Lucy Mauro. Here's where to find them.
